9th place for SCC's Declan in the World Transplant Games Time Trial!

 by Tony Butler

Stratford Cycling Clubs Declan Logue rode as part of the 175-strong Team Great Britain at the World Transplant Games in Malaga, which topped the medal table and won more medals than Team GB did at the Olympics and Paralympics combined. The team won a total of 360 medals, 166 being Golds. Over 50 countries took part, with 1,000+ transplant athletes and donor families. In temperatures above 35 degrees, the cyclists won 10 Golds, with Declan setting PBs to come 9th in the Time Trial, finish the Road Race in the main peloton at 19th, and 10th in the inaugural 3-up TTT.

At the British Transplant Games, in North Lanarkshire, the weather was very different, cold and with heavy rain saturating the Time Trial, before retreating to squalls for the Road Race. Declan was 5th in age group in the TT, and won a bronze in the Road Race.
