Cyclo Cross Wolverhampton
by Tony Butler
Round 8 of the West Midlands Cyclo Cross league could be describes as a “Mud Bath” with competitors having to have bike exchanges in order to move freely! To some this just seems to add to the fun and this can definitely be said of Stratford under 12 stars Spencer Corder and Zoe Parker.
Corder won his race by a whole minute in a time of in 14mins 43secs giving him 8 wins in 8 races in the league. Alex Burden rode a great race to finish 4th in 16mins 16secs with Lewis Tinsley 6th. Followed by Joshua Taylor 12 ; and Samuel Abbott 18th. But in the middle of the boys was female star Zoe Parker in 10 place but 2nd female home followed by Harriet Tinsley 34th and 11th girl home.
In the younger under 8 race Tamsin Moss remains a joy to watch as she battles with the boys and in finishing 11th was again the 2nd girl home. In the under 10 race brother Callum Moss was 10th. In this same race Ruben Stringfellow again rode a well controlled race to finish 4th
For all these young riders when they get to the under 14 and under 16 races it gets a whole lot tougher with the race length around 45mins as experienced by Luke Brennan who despite the heavy mud finished 14th in the under 14 class.
In the senior events Julieann Parker is a new star on the ground for the Stratford Club finishing 2nd in the age 45+ event while The ever present Carl Max Taylor was 10th in the mens age 50+ event .
