In memory of our founder, Stratford Cycling Club introduced the Jim Ridler Bursary to encourage, support and motivate the next generation of Stratford cyclists. Jim was a co-founder and president of Stratford Cycling Club, taking on his first official position in the club in 1985, when there were only a dozen members. Today the club has around 200 members, including 50 young cyclists who receive weekly coaching.
For the Summer 2025 season, the bursary has been awarded to three Stratford riders to help offset some of the costs for entry, travel, overnight accommodation and other expenses involved in competing at National and International level.
Jorgie Gillett – Jorgie will be representing SCC at the Youth Tour of Assen in The Netherlands and several rounds of the Youth National Circuit Series in the U14 age group.
Scarlett Ford – Building on her successful cyclocross season as regional champion, Scarlett is looking forward to competing in the Youth National Circuit Series in the U16 age group and the North West Youth Tour.
Charlier Shalders – As a first year U16, Charlie has set himself big goals of wining regional races as well as competing in the Youth National Circuit Series. Hi is already competitive in the club time trails where he often comes in ahead of some of the club’s more established senior riders.
The club wishes all our junior riders good luck and success in the upcoming road and circuit season.
